Making merry in the month of May

Maybe the April 1st riots got everyone riled up into a perpetual state of anarchy or perhaps it’s just that English people are after any excuse to bunk off work and drink outside as soon as the sun rears its head. Either way the end of last week saw demonstrations on the South Bank over the death of newspaper vendor Ian Tomlinson and at Clerkenwell Green about, well, just about everything there is to currently be pissed off about really. Wild protest on Wall Street. Sort of

I’m no dummy but this whole economic crisis has got me in a tizzy. I mean, I know we’re in a recession, I know about the bailout, I know about AIG and the banks and GM, and I know about the G-20, but shit’s still confusing. So when I heard there was going to be a march on Wall Street today I figured that this would be as good a chance as any to educate myself on what’s going on. Bleeding those Athens riot photos to death

As you may recall, just before the new year we posted photos of and interviews with some of those Greek rioters who’ve been ripping apart Athens since that 15-year-old was shot by the cops. The “resistance” has been waxing and waning since then, and some pretty destructive activities have been taking place on a weekly (if not daily) basis. Unbeknownst to us, the photos we posted right here on our li’l ol’ blog quickly hit critical mass, spread throughout Greek media and became sort of like emblems for youth angst and rebellion.
