The job applications we get here are depressingly predictable. They usually start with things like: “FUCK YOU, CUNT… But now that I’ve got your attention” etc etc etc. They normally include some crap about how “the Nazis always had the best style”, or come with an attempt at a “DON’T” about a disabled guy. So, amongst all this crap, when you find an application in an envelope packed with photos of Argentinean skate dudes from the Eighties and a letter about it, it’s sort of like summer time in Pan’s Labyrinth. I have no idea what to make of this artist
Is it a joke? Why is he such a sleazeball? What is Raggaetron (note the ‘r’)? Why does his unique brand of the romantic sound sound so shit? I know Argentina is far away, but surely someone at his record company had some idea of what words are banned on US and European radio stations? Is the Argentine Raggaetron scene really so big that they aren’t even interested in being able to sell records to the rest of the world? So many questions left unanswered.
