You remember Ryan McGinley’s Moon Milk series, right? Jamie Taete told you about it when he found out that Larry Clark saved McGinley’s life. Apparently Moonmilk is the cheesy rock discharge that you find in caves. It’s a bit like candyfloss, but white. The guy who first discovered the stuff back in the 1500s thought it was created by moonrays from celestial beings passing through into other worlds, which is cooler than reality (it is in fact some sort of crystallised bacteria – whoop!).
Unfortunately, McGinley has just packed away his first London show at the Alison Jacques Gallery, but if you missed it you can always buy the book. He is a very clever man and they are beautiful pictures. Buy it for someone for Christmas here.
