We’re all for these guys, SPR, and their whole campaign to get TV writers and ad guys to stop making light-hearted jokes about getting shoved into your cell by three guys and having your face pressed into the sink in the corner of the room with a shank to your throat while one guy tears open your jumpsuit and the two take turns ripping your ass open with their hands and HIV-laden cocks (hardy-har, right?), but seriously guys, could you have picked someone for your PSA who is, I don’t know, a little less funny?
Are we the only ones who can’t look at this guy’s cartoony hangdog expression without cracking up? I mean look at that face–he is daring you to joke around about him being raped. We’re not saying you have to go the Montana Meth route of scaring up support, but having Droopy Dog for your spokesman might be a little counter-productive.

Those jokes have been pissing me off for a long time. I mean they’ll show an ad on pre-watershed TV for Virgin Mobile or whatever where Wyclef Jean gets raped in the showers by some enormous thug and we’re supposed to say “he he.” Would they ever even think about joking with the idea of a woman getting raped?
I’m not saying never make jokes about rape (we joke about other violent crimes after all), but let’s be consistent and treat it like the extreme bad taste humour it is.
