Looks like a new GTA is on its way, and they’ve finally decided to actually set it in New York. So now you can tool around for hours outside the gameplay griping about all the neighborhood details they missed or reenacting that time you tripped straight into a cop horse at Coney Island. I don’t know how many of you are into Fairport Convention, but if you cut the sound on this trailer and sync it up with the intro to "The Lobster" from their first album it’s actually really intense. Swearsies.

Ohhhhhh shhhiiiiiiiiitttttt…I always think I’m done with videogames and then Rockstar Games comes out with something new. That Warriors game and Bully were super fun and way better than having sex or eating food. What the Hell is going to happen to me now that I can simulate travelling to the Graham stop on the L train and murdering all the Italian gabagoons that lurk there? I’m expecting giant easter eggs like being able to go to the Rockstar NY office or even possibly the Vice office since the Vice pimps all of Rockstars merchandise. Man, everytime a videogame set in NY comes out I feel like I have to play it. So far I deem Spiderman 2 to have the best pixelated NY in a videogame. That Truecrime game was unplayably boring. I can’t wait to see how this thing measures up. Is this on the PS2 or do I have to go and buy one of the new machines?

I think you guys should report on less mainstream games. This entry is the video game equivolent of interviewing Robbie Williams about his latest album. I’m not saying Robbie is shit or anything *COUGH* but come on Vice, with games like Cooking Mama (the Japanese cooking simulation you can play on the go!) focusing on GTA is just lazy, everyone is doing it.

“less mainstream games= the gayest most nerdiest shit of all time.”
Right. this comming from someone posting on the website of an alternative culture magazine that centres around Bohemian youthes and the independant arts. You’re already a pretentious hipster fag; you dont get to wear wolly hats and shellsuits ironically then declare Japanese RPGs as the gayest, nerdiest shit of all time.

It’s not New York…It’s Liberty City.
An it looks fucking brilliant.
Hating a GTA game because it’s popular is like hating on Micheal Jordan. Say what you want…they’re the best at what they do.

How can you say Japan RPGs aren’t mainstream, compare any bioware release to FF or DQ.

haha, I probably spend more time reading the coments to articles then the articles, because people who coment on vice articles are usually the fucking lamest people in the entire world.
This was a total exeption.
“games like Cooking Mama (the Japanese cooking simulation you can play on the go!) ”
I like vice because they write about intersting shit that I care about, but hell if this guy starts a magazine I’m fucking ditching vice.

It’s not New York, it’s Liberty City, which is based on New York City. It can now resemble New York more than it did in the past because of the better hardware.

Fuck, I’m stoked for this. The Russian mafia is as tyranical as any, about time they get some treatment in a game. I actually hope they stray from the massive GTA:SA style and focus on one urban environment, like Liberty City. Hopefully they improve the gameplay a bit, which is almost definate.

Why would they write up Cooking Mama, a non-game that is over 6 months old, instead of the unveiling of what is one of the most important games of this year, GTA4?
Let me guess, are you the type who hates Halo because it’s popular?

You’re missing the point. Vice is an alternative culture magazine — so why report on a game like GTA? Every other shitty publication and website out there is focusing on it, it’s a money spinner.
I dont hate GTA because it’s popular, I hate it coz it has all the appeal of a 2FAST2FURIOUS movie. It appeals to the sort of pussies who listen to nothing but hip hop coz it affirms their masculinity. That’s why it’s been so popular. Sure, it’s a good game in regards to design, but the only reason it breaks through into the mainstream is because it features thugs, guns, fast cars, and all the rest of the hyper-masculine bullshit that makes rap so popular with middle-class, white juveniles.
I wouldn’t bother reading vice if it started reporting on mainstream culture; be it music, art, fashion, etc… not because everything mainstream is shit, far from it, but because everyone out there is doing it in an attempt to garner interest in thier magazine, improve readership and make more money through advertising, and thats what makes most mainstream publications so stale — you’ve seen it all before… Vice isnt about that, so why is gaming treated any differently?

you’ve got it all wrong, you’re too worried about whether or not some douche demographic is into a game or not. Let me spin it back on you this way…it’s like em saying “I hate cooking mama because it appeals directly to pussy japanophile fat white nerds who work the counter at a manga store in some shitty mini-mall in the midwest.
Another thing, all publications out there are shit for games except one, it’s called EDGE.
Oh, and all internet sites are a fucking joke compared to one, it’s called NeoGAF.com
p.s. : Rather than posting at some site like this go register at GAF. (seriously, neogaf is like a white-sanded oasis filled with waterfalls of wine in the middle of the sahara desert in regards to games)
