Don Caballero are on tour in Europe. They rule. So go see them. Why not get your ears alternately raped viciously and then gently massaged by the best drummer in the world? Especially if you can get in for free? That’s right. We have free tickets for all their dates in the Netherlands, Germany and Italy, and loads of goodies to give away, including posters, records, and cds of their awesome new album, World Class Listening Problem. You don’t really have to do anything to win the goodies. Just send us an email at Vice Italy, Vice Netherlands, or Vice Germany, with the word “Don” in the subject line and we’ll send you free stuff. what? first i heard The Don at the opening of their 2000 “American Don” tour in Louisville- they rocked my shit. this was after Mike Banfield had already quit the band and Ian Williams discovered his own Frippertronics. then a year or two ago i heard Don Cab was playing shows, despite the fact that Ian and Pat Morris dumped Damon Che, which aparantly promped him to hire some cronies to learn their material. now the “band” has been whittled down to its original arrogant, choleric human metronome and a few ancillary peons who may yet prove their worth on this new release (note; NOT on the seminal T’n'G). i guess over in europe they don’t know shit about american indie, despite BATTLES sucessful tours there -featuring Williams, so Damon can get away with it. isn’t this wat Axl did to G’n'R?? No wonder Vice has to resort to giving the tix away for free- it’s holloween so i’ll make this analogy: would you accept a blowjob from a skeleton? that’s what going to one of these shows is like.
R.I.P. Don Caballero
the last great 20th c. midwest independant band before “indy-rock” became a buzzword for pop-loving 15 year-olds in white belts.

Whatever. The new Don Cab is just as good as Don Caballero 2. Battles suck ass. Despite Ian Williams.

too bad the free part is only happening in Europe. Although paying 10 bucks to see’em in Montreal a few months ago was fuckin worth it. Amazing band, past and present. Don’t playa hate Damon Che, “post Indy Maven”. Anyone who’s gonna fuckin say shit like “ancillary peons” in a nerdy indy rock rant (and refer to G’n'R in said rant) is probly getting blowjobs from skeletons. So, I’ll take you on your word that you know how that feels but The Don still rules!

indy maven beats off over Steve Albini articles
The new Don Cab are shit compared to old Don Cab, but I don’t give a fuck, I’m still going to go see them. I’ll try to tell them your objections while I’m there though indy, I bet they’ll cry.
