WEB DESIGN INTERN
Vice UK is looking for an Intern to work with our l33t digital development team for 3 months. Duties will involve the build and maintenance of the Vice and VBS newsletters as well as helping out with client and internal web design and development jobs.
The applicant must be good at hand coding HTML and CSS, have some design experience and be familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite. Flash and basic php experience would be good, but aren't essential.
The position will be unpaid, but travel expences will be covered. If you're interested please contact daniel@viceuk.com with your CV and some examples of previous work.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR BLOGGERS
We are building a Vice Blog Network (aka VBN) in the UK and Europe. To join you must have your own blog. VBN will be a collection of what, in our opinion, are the most interesting, relevant and popular independently-run blogs on the planet, primarily in the spheres of fashion, art, film, music, sex and technology.
By becoming a member of VBN, you will be the first to find out about new and exclusive Vice and VBS TV-related content, competitions and projects and get invited to monthly networking parties. VBN members will also be eligible for guest list to all Vice events, any exhibitions, film showings or parties we may have.
Your blog will be seen as an ambassador of the Vice brand and you'll get a .jpg VBN badge to stick on your page.
In exchange you will be asked to help promote Vice-related projects through your blog, Twitter or Facebook, but don't worry, we'll never force you to compromise your editorial integrity or do anything you don't want to do.
If all of this sounds good and you're currently living in the UK or Europe, please send a link to your blog to vbn@viceuk.com to get started.
VBS WANTS TO USE YOUR MUSIC
Are you in a criminally overlooked band struggling to get your important music heard? Of course you are. That’s why you’re sitting at a desk reading this rather than concentrating on your shitty job. Well, at VBS we are looking for music to use in our documentaries from new unsigned bands.
Obviously you can’t send in stuff you didn’t write yourself, so that really special cover of “Hallelujah” that you did on the keytar may have to remain in obscurity. But, we are looking for all kinds of music, so don’t be shy if no one seems to get your solo clarinet album; we might. If you’re picked, you have to sign a piece of paper for us and we can pop your name on the end of the documentary. You may even end up on proper television.
If you’re interested please send your songs to music@viceuk.com or Alison, VBS.TV, 77 Leonard Street, London, EC2A 4QS.
VICE STUDENT AMBASSADORS
Vice are currently recruiting for Student Ambassadors to work part-time
all over the UK.
We need creative people who are passionate about VICE and what we stand for; you will have an online presence and experience in blogging, photography or social networking. You will understand our brand and be committed in working hard with us in a promotional capacity.
In return we can offer you a subscription to Vice Magazine, free entry to gigs and nights of your choice, Vice goodies and an excellent reference for your CV.
If this sounds like you, email alice@viceuk.com telling us why you should be a VICE Student Ambassador.
INTERNSHIPS
Due to popular demand, Vice offers three months unpaid internships,
which often leads to full employment at the company. More than half the
current permanent staff at Vice interned for us at some stage, including
our Publisher Matt Elek and our Managing Editor James Knight. Our interns
scheme offers a comprehensive insight into the "glamorous" world
of publishing. While you're here you will be shadowing different
departments and will have our staff informally teach you about the
business.
If you're interested, email Emma (also once an intern) Office Manager: emma@viceuk.com. Tell us about yourself and areas that you hope to learn about.
PARTY PHOTOGRAPHERS
VICE are looking for photographers to work with us on our new
photoblog - photos.viceland.com.
The position will involve
attending parties and events on our behalf, networking and taking
photographs of people, bands and exhibits. These photos will be published
either on Viceland.com or in our magazine.
We are looking for confident partygoers who understand the VICE brand. You will have experience in photography (events/informal portraits) and you will be happy working independently. You'll be really confident as we want you to go the extra mile to get us sexy, weird shots. You must have your own digital SLR camera as well as access to the internet as all photographs must be submitted within 24 hours of the event.
This is initially an unpaid position but will provide great exposure and experience for an aspiring event photographer.
Please send a link to your work to nicole@viceuk.com. Only successful
applicants will be contacted.
