THE TWILIGHT SAD, formed in '03 are from Kilsyth, Scotland. Their critically acclaimed debut album, Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters, was released on FatCat in 2007. Their sound has developed from half hour-long pieces of music including guitars, bass, tape loops and toy keyboards, to something more folk/experimental/noise, layered with many melodies, and an intense live sound. The Twilight Sad's live past includes the support slot on tour with Mogwai.

WHITE DENIM's songs are borne of experience and doubt. The skipping country-rock, the heartfelt songs and gentle and moody Shuggie-style soul music, details relationships that can't succeed. Influences range from the early works of Funkadelic, to seventies Brazilian pop, and it shows. There are more elements of jazz and soul than previously and the vocals sit in the mix rather than on top, like another instrument. The playing is clever without being ostentatious and there is an overflow of melodic hooks.

ARTHUR DELANEY is not only a talented songwriter but also a very accomplished guitar player. Taking inspiration from The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac circa '75 and Jimi Hendrix, it's no wonder he doesn't come across as just another acoustic singer- songwriter. Delaney looks 100% the '70s rock'n'roll star paradigm but sounds more like the missing member of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Their recently released debut album 'Nonsense In The Dark' showcases Filthy Dukes' unique, analogue electro-indie-kraut-pop live sound. A host of artists also lend guest vocals to the album including Samuel Dust of Late Of The Pier, Orlando Weeks of The Maccabees and To My Boy.

Disco-rock trio WE HAVE BAND are Darren Bancroft, Dede W and Thomas W. Their sound is a mix of mucky, dark bass lines reminiscent of the raw post-punk of ESG, the brighter feral funk of Can and the more modernist, electro-pop sounds of New Pony Club or Hot Chip.

Acclaimed by the likes of MOJO, Q, The Guardian and Rocksound, The PHANTOM BAND make like a Glaswegian Super Furry Animals; making a noise that collects a rabble of sounds and remoulds them into brand new, uber-brave pop. The music makes shapes that fizz with energy and chaos like a scientists with too many ideas and not enough time. It's like Krautrock, The Fall, folk and The Velvet Underground all in one big pot.

ABE VIGODA are the new LA punk secret weapon and we're happy to welcome them to the Stag and Dagger this year. Coming from a splattered background of no wave, pop, darkness and hope, ABE VIGODA bring forth a sound that is tempting and beautiful, yet melodic and tropical. They take their name from the 'Godfather' actor and gained notoriety for their performances at The Smell.

Named after an 18th Century oil painting, this all-girl trio (consisting of the enigmatically named C-Bird, D-Bird and X-Bird) from London play lo-fi gothic post-rock. They have been compared with The Jesus And Mary Chain, Kim Gordon, the Ronettes, the Banshees, the Bad Seeds and The Shangri-Las and should not be missed.

This Baltimore, MD, band comprised of Sarah Blum, Dave Chrismer, and Nathan Duncan formed back in 2007 to make a lo-fi synth group that evokes all the best elements of the Casio modification movement: endearing lyrics and vocals, bittersweet shimmering timbers, nostalgic melodies, with just the right amount of zaniness.
