Fall in love with Lovvers
We love Lovvers. They’re the original unnecessarily-repeated-consonant act, before Wavves got hyped as the new Kurt Cobain/Craig Nicholls, Nodzzz charmed us all with their uber-geek pop, and Mayyors, er… well they aren’t that well known for anything yet, but they’re very good.
Anyway, now that they’ve finally released an excellent full-length LP, to some rave and some not so rave reviews, they’re doing they’re first proper UK tour in ages. And to celebrate that fact they’ve sent us an exclusive new track, which they recorded with Jarvis from Woods when they were out in the US earlier this year. It’s awesome! Read more »
Three Cheers - From the eye of the shitstorm come Grass Widow
Grass Widow are Lillian, Hannah and Raven. They play melodic, off-beat post-punk that rocks. I love them. Hmm, how shall I quantify? I love them like David Cameron loves exposing his massive Tory forehead. If you like The Raincoats or Kleenex then you’ll like them just as much. Almost as much as this guy likes his wheelchair. Are you going to San Francisco? Well you should be because, for a city who destroyed its oceanic view by building a Nazi super-prison of rock and iron right in the middle of its panorama, it seems like a pretty fine town. It’s always a hotbed of some kind of counterculture, a place that comes with a thousand recommendations, and a seemingly endless stream of great bands. At the moment there’s Thee Oh Sees, Sic Alps, Nodzzz, Grass Widow, and Mayyors. And now there’s this band of playful horse fetishists, the Fresh & Onlys. San Francisco’s such a lucky little bitch.
