You know what my life was missing? It was missing a band that sound like cold callers breaking down into a monotone rant laced with irony and suicidal misanthropy while a toy band parade Casio idiosyncrasies in the background. A band wearing bad suits. A band pathologically unwilling to be noticed, remembered or enjoyed by anyone. I’d forgotten how much I used to love Vichy Government, because I’d forgotten who they were. Then I heard they were rereleasing four albums in four weeks on iTunes and I dug out my old copies and remembered when I still enjoyed ridiculous music. Click through to hear my favourite song by them.

You should check out their four records. Each one is better than Empire of the Sun or whatever bullshit people like. These are the albums they’re crowning these four weeks with.
Carrion Camping - was released on 2nd March
Whores In Taxis - 16th March
White Elephant - 30th March
Vanity Publishing (b-sides and rarities) - 13th April
They’re all out on Angular, you should buy them all for your mother. It would be a weird gift.

If you care about weird, celestial, underground music. If you’ve ever had a passing interest in electro, italo, garage rock or any music that sounds like dystopian badlands, then you’ll have trawled 20jazzfunkgreats. They were the first blog to tell me about Crystal Castles, Salem and Teengirl Fantasy - always in their own eternally cerebral manner. They are also only one of about ten cool things to ever come out of Brighton. Now 20jazzfunkgreats have scuttled into Viceland to tell you (and let you hear) the most exciting music booming from under their office door. They’ll be appearing every week, welcome XXJFG.
