I’m considering a move to Sweden. It’s got awesome public services, impressively clean streets, myriad different kinds of delicious pickled fish and a left-leaning progressive government. Okay, they have a bit of a weird situation with buying booze (you can only get wine and spirits from state-run alcohol shops that are open no later than 6 PM), but it’s good to be organised about getting drunk. Sweden must be the most charming place on Earth because it has more brilliant, dreamy pop music than anywhere else. You may have heard of acts like the Tough Alliance and Air France, but scratch under the surface and there are even more Saint Etienne worshipers, Pet Shop Boys acolytes, and Orange Juice disciples.
