As there is no real theme to the new issue as such, I am just going to post some stuff I’ve been listening to a lot of of late. Okay? Great. First up, Brazil’s Psychic Possessor.

After last week’s hark back to the days of proto-metal, courtesy of Fenriz’s majestic Trapped Under Vice, Vol.II compilation, we have another trip back in time, this time (yep, you guessed it) to 1994.

Following the success of the first in the Trapped Under Vice mix series by resident Fist in the Face of God mix-maker Fenriz back in July, we have the highly anticipated second installment of the series, imaginatively titled Trapped Under Vice Vol. II. In stark contrast to the style of the first volume, I wanted a style I know virtually nothing about. So I asked Fenriz for a collection of the stuff that had inspired the people who had inspired him to make music. Anyways, here is the intro from the man himself. Take it away, Fenriz.

After an extensive interview period, AFITFOG is back to current Vice issue-themed posts. As it is the last week of the Film Issue, I thought it would be swell to highlight one of metal’s finest moments in cinema, Powermad’s performance of “Slaughterhouse” in David Lynch’s 1990 masterpiece, Wild At Heart.

Neseblod Records is Oslo’s premier metal and punk record store and also the most insane shop I’ve ever been to. Their collection of records and merchandise is crazy; trying to get through it all was pretty impossible. The story could be five times the size and still be over-stocked. I emailed some questions to Kenneth at Neseblod, who answered them all politely and even recommended a track that best represents their store. Swell guy, I am sure you’ll agree. Read more »

Aura Noir frontman and Immortal bassist Apollyon took time out from touring, teaching kids music, and playing in six or seven different bands (he’s lost count) to come to London and meet me for an interview. Here’s some of what we talked about over a few beers (and a lot of Pantera) in The Hobgoblin in Camden last week. By the way, did you know that he played bass for Gorgoroth at the now infamous Krakow show? Well, now you do. Read more »

Slayer have a new album, World Painted Blood, due out next month. Hopefully it will better than anything that they’ve released since 1986. They were in town promoting this new record and I was lucky enough to get an interview with frontman Tom Araya and legendary shred machine Kerry King – albeit individually. Here is some of the stuff we talked about. Read more »
