“Dear blog about my awful life,
We had a party to celebrate the six-week anniversary of Mary’s erotica website and it ruled. Steve and Billy baked these hilarious cock cupcakes and they were a huge hit, especially with all the decaying old prunes who made up 89 percent of the guests.”

It’s a dark day when some idiot brands any band who are willing to create forward thinking music as “Pretentious Arseholes”…..Go listen to Oasis or something dickhead!!!
February 13th, 2010
^^ if by “forward thinking music” you mean “music that sounds exactly the same as stuff that was done 15 years ago but that was done then with a whole lot more talent” and if by “exactly the same as” i mean “way way worse than bjork did it” then you, or me or whoever ive confused myself, would be spot on.
there is some really really good music brought to light here (grave babies holy shit… ‘personal taste’, i know) but this is on some ‘emporers new clothes’ shit and is not Da Bomb!!!

People who think this is good/innovative have no interest in music beyond white indie and a bit of post-punk. Funneh
February 26th, 2010
Yep, we’ve got to face it: This is not innovative. It’s trying to be, and the instrumentation and sound sources are original in this setting, but what they make out of it is everything but impressive.
Shaman’s right: If you’re looking for innovation, then don’t limit yourself to the so-called indie music world. Go out and search for more!
And if we neglect the matter of innovation: Music with monotonous beats could be so interesting, but These New Puritans do it in a rather boring way. How about going 40 years back and listen to albums of Can again. Ever gave “Yoo Doo Right” a chance?

Sorry bros, but they are innovative. They are trying to be but they are. I can’t see why they aren’t. It seems to me to be akin to a self-appointed “foodie” asking for a very rare steak at a restaurant when they don’t really enjoy rare steak, they just want everyone else in the party to know they are aware and refined enough to want it. As in “wah wah ripping off this band ffs” = “I KNOW ABOUT THIS BAND OMG HOORAY ME” (I do it myself time to time I must admit, it’s annoying when a new band are proclaimed “gods of innovation” when they sound exactly like a band you’ve loved :( ) Can are a brilliant band! and I can see where you coming from with that! also 1970’s “pronk” band Cardiacs spring to mind? (listen if you haven’t!) and someone else mentioned The Drift. But none of these bands are really that similar are they? and if we’re going to classify everything that bears some kind of influence as not innovative then every aspiring band might as well pack-up their guitars. Even if it wasn’t innovative it’d a great record and if any of these here nay-sayers can direct me to a bassoon and Japanese taiko drum set led 11 track album with an overture and an instrumental corpus, released as an indie rock record with post-punk and dance influences, then honestly please direct me to it right now because I am desperate to here it. Oh right what’s that? There isn’t? Oh it’s okay I’ll just listen to Hidden again then! :D

all these comments make me smile. I love it when nobody knows what to label music. People get so frightened about it sometimes. All I know is that I enjoy it very much.
