If you saw the sky over Norway yesterday, you’ll know that, after decades of worrying about it, aliens have finally arrived on earth, and considering we haven’t even got round to building death rays yet, the likelihood is that they’re going to make us slaves. I think we can safely assume that music will probably retreat to call-and-respond slave songs and campfire folk, and no one will be able to blog about it. Yup, not even Gorilla vs Bear. But before this all happens, here’s a band weird enough to soundtrack the invasion: Prize Pets.
Prize Pets are from Nottingham and feature ex- and current members of Kamikaze, Snails, and art-rock weirdos Human Hair. They sound something like the Fall, if Mark E. Smith was from the home counties and didn’t think Talking Heads were the enemy. They’re releasing a 7″ with our good friends Sex is Disgusting next year, and will most likely do a tour around it. Listen to a track below and keep your eyes on the skies.
