I’m not sure what constitutes a super vacation, but my guess is it’s vacation squared – the essence of a holiday concentrated into one week of pool parties, sandcastles, romance, donkey rides, foam parties, finally reading The Corrections, finding yourself, not drinking, drinking a lot, beach sex, boating, paella, not watching any telly, and actually feeling like you’ve had a holiday at the end. An impossible dream you might think, but maybe you haven’t heard the Super Vacations yet.

Now I know there’s a ton of bands out there right now kickin’ it lo-fi and taking cues from the Pebbles and Nuggets comps, but this east coast five-piece do it with such cool carefree charm that it reminds you what it was like listening to “Psychotic Reaction” for the first time. Imagine Cali punks Audacity playing at being the 13th Floor Elevators or The Pyramids – it’s loose and fun, but with enough going on to keep your ears interested. They’ve got one LP out already on Shdwply records and another forthcoming, plus a 7″ from which this track below is taken. Now all we need is for someone to get them over to the UK.
