Featuring present and ex-members of Sexy Kids, The Royal We & Your Twenties, new London based three/four piece Veronica Falls are very much in thrall to the better side of indie-pop (i.e. not too cloyingly twee). We caught up with singer Roxanne Clifford for a few basic questions.
VICE: Hello. How did Veronica Falls form?
Roxanne: Me and Patrick moved to London around the same time with an open mind. We were introduced to James at a Comet Gain show and very recently we recruited our friend Marion, who we’re teaching to play the bass because we want her in the band so bad. Now Veronica Falls is complete.
What old bands are you guys into?
The Chills (Pink Frost era), Roky Erickson’s creepy lyrics, and all the uncool shoegaze bands like Ultra Vivid Scene and The House Of Love, Felt, and Mo Tucker.
Are there any current bands you think we should know about but might not?
Our friends The German Measles from Brooklyn make good-time songs with outrageous lyrics for when you’re feeling blue. And I really like a band from Brighton called The Light Sleepers.
What’s the deal with referencing American sitcom Veronica’s Closet? It’s rubbish.
THAT was an accident.
Yes, we’re doing a 12″ EP with them, and it will probably include our song “Found Love in a Graveyard”.
Thanks Roxanne!

jangly guitar and good vocals are too rarely put in the same package. this is lovely.
