Christians, look away now. This week’s post sees A Fist in the Face of God undertake maybe its most unholy recipient yet: Von.

I know Von are a bit obvious or whatever but fuck it, I’ve been raping this again of late and it’s not getting old fast. It sounds like it was recorded backwards by druids of Lucifer with no faces in a well 7,500 feet beneath the Earth’s scenic exterior. In 1567.

From the opening line (a loop of a voice saying “Pray Satan” over and over), you know you’re in for something overtly necro. Von (it is not an acronyn for ‘Victory, Orgasm, Nazi’, as Varg once said – he was spelling it out phonetically in a phone interview) is the name given to the river of blood that flowed from the severed jaws of the mighty Fenrir after a battle with Tyr, somewhere in time. Anyways, Von were a major influence on the second wave of black metal, but like many of the great metal bands I feature on here, only recorded a couple of demos (though there’s also a few live tracks knocking about). Apparently a demo called “Black Skin” was recorded but was lost by the band members and never found.
