MUSIC GO MUSIC
In a better world Phil Spector would be producing Abba. He would stumble into the studio, tell Bjorn to go fuck himself and thrust a gun down Anni-Frid’s mouth until Agnetha hit the high-notes. The result would be something not a million miles away from ‘Light of Love’ by LA trio Music Go Music. The mysterious Gala Bell’s organic voice is what binds the synth pop with the dancefloor and ends up producing some futro-disco that most A&Rs are freaking out about. They have three singles out on Secretly Canadian which traverse the epic to the ELO.

RADIANT DRAGON
Somewhere in-between the shiny electronic loops of Ratatat and a buzzing marketplace is the realm of the Radiant Dragon. It’s the work of nomadic Larry Ming Long Lek, and although the demos don’t have any fiery vocals on them yet they still have cosmic highs and rapturous drops. Screw the ox, it’s the year of the dragon.

GIRLS
Christopher Owens and Chet ‘JR’ White are Girls, but they’d be about as welcome at a WI meeting as Chris Brown. If the names didn’t give it away, they are the coolest dudes on earth and they’re putting it down on the West Coast.
Their songs are starkly strung out narrations of earnest vocals, pleading lyrics, and monumental melodies. On the beautiful ‘Hellhole Ratrace’ they sound like a sleepy Elvis Costello strumming gently away as a wave of sand builds behind him.
