Hello everyone, we’re back with a track from weird San Diego types Blessure Grave. Read on to find out all about it.
Echoes of
Joy Division and
Christian Death are apparent within this short paean to the darker elements of life delivered by San Diego’s
Blessure Grave. They are evident in the vocals of Tobias Grave (possibly not his real name), wrapped around a strident drumbeat that would only lead a funeral procession to increase their pace to a march or maybe even a dance.
Despite only having been around for approximately two and a half minutes, Blessure Grave have numerous upcoming releases planned, including a split with
Wetdog and a release on
Blank Dog’s
Captured Tracks Records. The prolific nature of the band exists in contradiction to the maudlin content of their songs. In fact, it is hard to imagine these guys even wanting to get out of bed, let alone make music. Luckily for you lot, make music they do and for this we should be grateful as they exist in a space where darkness flirts with the traditional pop song, yielding amazingly engaging results. The press’ current obsession with everything sun-bleached and surf-covered needs something to counterbalance it and Blessure Grave fit might just be the band to fit that bill. Drenched in enough melody for the sunshine gang but with a charred and blackened core.
