the thing about fashion post 1990, aka the techie upheaval, is that technology is supposed to be functional...practical. looking at a lot of these fashions now, i spot them as obvious tragedies, because they are not practical for weather, the briefcase thing isn't practical if you are a student who carries a lot of books or a girl who only carries lipgloss...i doubt the shirtkerchief new yorkers are graff. artists or preparing for a riot.

this is fashion devolution.

bottom line--people who fall for it have a lot of time on their hands.
