BUGLE
“Actually, this is a pocket trumpet. I can only play one song on it, though.”

HAT
“I went down to see my mother, and her friend met me at the station and gave me this hat. She said I left it at her house when I was young. I don’t think I did, though. I started wearing it because I liked the idea that I had it when I was a boy. I don’t even know why she thought it was mine.”

SHOES
“They’re Sergio Giorgini, I got them down the Kingsland Road with James when we were out on his birthday. You get those African shops, and they were in the window. I just thought they were the most amazing things I’d ever seen. That’s real gold on them too. He gave me £5 off. They were £50! I don’t know why everybody doesn’t wear shoes like this all the time.” |

BELT
“This is someone else’s but it’s too small for them.”

WRISTBAND
“That’s from the Wellington in Hull. It’s the best venue I’ve done in the tour. We were on tour with the Young Knives. I’m still on it now.”

GUITAR
“My friend found it in a skip when I was 15, and I’ve just used it since.”

BLACK LEATHER JACKET
“When I was a boy, my uncle used to come round my house. He was in a band, and he always used to wear black leather. I don’t remember what the band were called. But that’s what being in a band was all about, y’know, black leather.” |
