DOS & DON'TS

How would you rather spend eternity: listening to Doors fans sob over the alcoholic loser you got buried next to or continually pushing a rock up a hill only to have it roll back down at the top EVERY FUCKING TIME. We’ll take the boulder. Comments/Enlarge | See all

Are they trying to sex up the Auschwitz museum tours? Or did a guy in his 40s who owns a flagging lingerie store in Berlin dream up this harrowing display of human frailty? Either way it's making me horny. Comments/Enlarge | See all

EPICLY LATER’D

By Patrick O’Dell

October 9:
Right now I’m working on the third most exciting thing I have ever worked on (after shooting pictures of Morrissey getting peed on by an infant and the John Cardiel documentary). It’s a presentation at MoMA on October 15 about the history of skate videos. I have always thought that skateboard videos needed to be officially honored, and I am glad I got to be the one chosen to do it. Especially because if someone else did it they would probably choose the most bullshit videos, and I know what the sweet ones are. But then again, I guess that’s obviously subjective. Just so you know where I’m coming from, my favorite videos of all time are Video Days, Memory Screen, Fucktards, and Mouse. Pretty obvious choices, right? I really think Memory Screen should be played in its entirety but no one probably has time for that. In fact, I have to condense 30 years of skate videos into a 15-minute montage—no easy feat. We are also going to have a panel discussion, and I ended up making that a complete clusterfuck as well: Spike Jonze, Lance Mountain, Jake Phelps, Greg Hunt, Ty Evans, Ed Templeton, Guy Mariano, Tobin Yelland, and Mark Gonzales… all appearing live onstage, and all in about an hour and a half. So who knows how that will turn out. Probably just one big mess, but hopefully entertaining.

October 16:
The event went sweet last night—at least that’s what people tell me. I was so nervous onstage that I don’t remember it that well. We filmed it and are putting something together now. I can’t wait to show you.

Chip Love says: I loved the skate vid "Debunker". But I never see it sighted as being radical. But, the best vid of all time has to be "Animal Chin". No question. Rippin’ style, holmes.

Dude, you got me all hyped up for this "Memory Screen" Video, so i watch it...and it’s total shit. The 5 Min intro of nothing makes me want to shoot the film maker. Wack.
