You know what? Fuck punk. And fuck trying to be a hippie. They both take too long. Everyone under 20 needs to become a rockabilly. The hair’s a cinch, the shoes make you look tall, and unless you’re living with your granddad in Alabama, it’s actually become rebellious again.

The reason British nerds are so content is they’re not outcasts. The whole country is ugly, misanthropic, too smart for its own good, works at a record distributors, collects Dr. Who DVDs, and is married to a chubby nurse with a kid from another marriage.

The rule used to be you could only wear a fedora with a collared shirt and cords, not jeans, but do you think this maverick gives a flying fuck about the rules? He IS the rules.

Thanks to Ami & Kristian, Solo and Diana’s mum

Right now instead of, I don't know, trying to cure cancer or something, thousands of millions of hundreds of scientists are busy designing "intelligent textiles," aka clothes that do stuff. So far the practical value of their creations ranges from from roughly "im-" to "not in the least bit," but they're still cool to take pictures of. So that's what we did.

SMART DRESS by Amy Bondesson
Amy makes dresses that respond visually to different stimuli, like heat and touch. This one changes color in response to variations in light. Philips NV has developed a dress along similar lines that monitors your body signals and changes shape and color according to your mood. So if it thinks you're mad, it'll bloof up like a blowfish, and if thinks you're horny it'll shrink back down to be form-fitting. It's never made it to production because they focus-tested it in Japan, where the prospect of wearing something that publicly displays your emotions scared the shit out of people.

KINETIC DRESS by CuteCircuit
This evening gown is motion sensitive. When you're sitting still, it's perfectly black. Then when you get up it starts shimmering deep blue and gets progressively brighter as you pick up speed. Malin here had to truck ass across the lawn to get it that shade.

IPOD JACKET by CuteCircuit
This is one of those garments we don't get. It's a jacket that lights up when you're listening to your iPod. Really the only reason we included it is we thought the photo was nice.

VIAGRA PANTS by AussieBum
Psyche! Viagra Pants don¹t actually exist yet. The team at Aussiebum are burning the midnight oil to make them a reality, but until they do we'll all have to content ourselves with these vitamin C briefs. Victor claimed they gave him a "refreshing tingle."

UNDER-EASE by Under-Tec
While many a shyster has tried to sell the world on fart-proof underwear, this is the only one we've ever come across that actually works. It's a pair airtight of boxers with elastic on the cuffs and a replaceable air filter right at the dumper.

ARMADILLO SCOOTER WEAR and D3O
D30 make clothes out of a specially designed fabric that turns stiff in response to impact, not unlike the bulletproof jackets that guy in Colombia made for Steven Seagal.

LUMALIVE GEAR by Boost Products
This shirt is made out of a conductive fabric that lights up and contains a programmable LED light panel so you can make it say whatever you want, like "Boner" or "Hot to Trot."

THE HUG SHIRT by CuteCircuit
You've probably read about this one--it's that shirt with a built-in Bluetooth device that lets you remotely hug the person wearing the corresponding shirt, by duplicating the pressure and heat you apply to your own. We discovered that it also doubles as a pretty decent punch shirt.
