DOS & DON'TS

Spanish crusties are everywhere in London at the moment and they’re looking FABULOUS. At the Insect Warfare show at the Old Blue Last we had dogs on strings sitting on bar stools, ordering pints. The rest of the crowd looked like this, from late 20s 7s with Anti Cimex shirts to amazing dykes with Punisher throat tattoos. Comments/Enlarge | See all

If you're a psychotic murderer who needs to dispose of body parts across town, dressing up as a Godspell unicycle mime on his way to work is a surprisingly good option. The unicycle case will fit the average-sized kid and people tend to assume the smell is just coming from you. Comments/Enlarge | See all

VICE FASHION - GUTE NACHT, MOON

ILLUSTRATIONS BY MYRIAM NAGY
PRODUCTION BY VERENA KROUPA AND MAGDALENA VUKOVIC

Every German and Austrian kid is raised on Felicitas Kuhn’s illustrations. She’s designed gazillions of children’s books and her drawings are synonymous with nursery rhymes, rosy cheeks, and postwar happiness. When grown-up Jerries see her books now, they get all misty-eyed and start babbling about weird childhood memories of, I don’t know, skating on the frozen Rhine while Mumsy makes some schnitzel and gugelhupf.

We decided to pay Mrs. Kuhn a visit in her sweet little house near Vienna. She served us orange juice and biscuits and we asked her if we could use her illustrations for a fashion story. She courteously said no, so we cried and cried and then we asked Myriam, our friend’s 18-year-old little sister, if she could paint in a style inspired by Kuhn while integrating scenes from her life as a cute little teenager. Myriam is going to apply for art school next year, so this was a good exercise for her and a relief from drawing cats and hands. She did a great job and we are really proud of her. We hope that going to art school is not going to ruin her, although it probably will.
