Do not stay in tonight! Put the burrito down and get out of the house now because by 1 AM your friends will have stopped answering their phones and you’ll be staring at the TV wondering if this is out there.

We were going to slap her when we got home because Grammy and Grampy’s closet is strictly off-limits but as our hands were in the air we were like, “You know what? This is so crazy it just might work.” And we went to the funeral without making her change.

Title: Unicorns
Artist: Devin Flynn
Gallery: N/A
Medium: Adobe Illustrator
Price: “We can talk about it.”

Devin Flynn made an animated video for the Lightning Bolt song “13 Monsters” that is so retardedly hilarious and scary that it is almost a blessing that most of the world will never see it. (It’s only available on the Bolt tour DVD that came out last year.) “But actually, Load Records is going to release a follow-up to that DVD,” Devin tells us. “It’ll feature musical animations by folks who are involved in that kooky Providence rock scene. I used my old band Pixeltan’s music and made something called My Minute Beats Your Year.”

Devin has also made an excellent video for Rye Coalition, a still from which is seen here.

From dubious beginnings (“Back in 1989 I redesigned the Loud Records logo for Steve Rifkind for $200. If I had a licensing contract that would have put me through college.”) to line-drawing cartoons containing spastic images of wizards, devils, and devious characters, Devin includes a common thread of the slightly menacing and off-kilter in his work. As he puts it, “My perception of reality is off by a mile. But who knows? Animation stills go for big bucks at Sotheby’s.”
