DOS & DON'TS

I don’t know about exploring the inner workings of the universe with E. The first couple of hours can be great but how about the last three hours of lying in bed a day later with the fear, frantically trying to jerk off to lessen the pain? Comments/Enlarge | See all

They’re fighting for a world where annoying first year at college know-it-alls can wear popsicle boxes as hats without me wanting to beat them to death even though they’re a girl. Comments/Enlarge | See all

FANTASY FOR FLESH

Gelatin Mix Orgies and Intellect

Title: Schlund
Artist: Gelatin
Gallery: Leo Koenig
Website: www.t0.or.at
Media: Fat people, wood, grease, etc.
Price: N/A

Gelatin are what it would be like if the Beatles enjoyed playing with their own shit and made art instead of music. They have made a human elevator, where a chain of muscle dudes hand you to each other up the inside of a 30-foot structure; they have vacuum-sealed themselves in plastic with only a breathing tube for ventilation; and they once built a space rocket that got about one centimeter off the ground before collapsing, with them inside of it.

Gelatin projects have the same sense of exploration and bravery that kids possess before they get scared of broken bones, nakedness, bees, or AIDS.

In the project pictured here, Schlund, Gelatin made a 35-foot vertical shaft and filled it all the way down with “big men and women. Naked.” If you wanted to, you could climb to the top, strip down, get greased up, and slowly slide down the big fleshy chute in the middle of the tower. It felt, as Gelatin puts it, “like being swallowed by a giant esophagus.”
