DOS & DON'TS

It’s hard to go wrong with rockabilly. The accessories are subdued and not tacky, the rules haven’t changed for 40 years, and you hardly ever run into any fat ones. Comments/Enlarge | See all

WELCOME TO OUR GUIDE

From Blue Demon

Hello Non-Believers,
You hold in your sweaty, sweaty mitts the Vice Guide to Comics. It’s not so much a guide to comics as a medium. Or, it’s a guide to the comics that I think are interesting and also me sucking up to the companies that sent me the most free stuff.

When Vice poked me awake with a broom handle and demanded that I write a little teeny magazine about comics for them, I said, “Why should I?” and “Stop pokin’ me with that thing. Ow ow ow!” They said that their favorite form of outmoded entertainment was hula-hoops so I would have to do it. “Ow ow ow!” I responded. (They were still poking me with the broom.) “Comics aren’t a nostalgia trip, comics are on the cusp of becoming the most popular art form!” The head honchos responded, “See? Listen to you spout that baloney like it means something. We can’t fake an interest in a dead pastime like you can.” And then they cut off my feet so I couldn’t run away.

Send help,
Nicholas Gazin
Emperor-in-Chief

Nicholas Gazin put this little magazine together, took most of the photos, and did the cover illustration. If something isn’t credited, just go ahead and assume he did it. He tries to make money drawing, writing, doing clothing design, DJing, and hosting rock ’n’ roll parties but he fails on all counts.

Sorry. Next time I’ll make a guide about things that you already know about.

i don’t collect or know anything about comics but i do like looking at them at flea markets and garage sales. i collected baseball cards so i know where this ends. it ends in me having a bunch of shit that i don’t want to get rid of but end up keeping in storage and never looking at.

The Vice Guide to really old comics you will never read because they are tucked away in Mylar in some nerd’s closet forever
