In 1979,there were only 6 still living in the wild. the remaining 5,without a female needed to rebuild the population of the species,just couldn't be found within the last remaining flock. the last female within to be seen alive was seen in 1975. No females needed to help rebuild the population of the species were after 1975. there was only 1 left by March 31st,1986. Animals that are extinct but not mentioned include the Passenger Pigeon, Labrador Duck, Carolina Paroquet, and more recently Dusky Seaside Sparrow, (thanks Cape Canavral, and 5 million Florida retirees for that one). Until recently the Ivory Billed Woodpecker was considered extinct as well, but they recently saw one down in the swamps of Arkansas.
