Carl wears cap and t-shirt by Creature and trousers by Independent
If you live in the UK and are into skating, you’ll know 27-year-old Carl “Potter” Wilson. Despite the fact pro skaters make brands like Etnies look cool, you shouldn’t believe the hype. Most of them also have to do mind-numbing jobs and worry about cash. We spoke to Carl about his part-time bum-wiping job and his love of wanking. Read more »

Jeremy Scott’s London Fashion Week debut saw Scott show these super tiny, side tie, animal claw swimming trunks on Cole Mohr. Scott’s caveman theme felt new and undone. With Total Coelo’s bombastic “I Eat Cannibals” playing, everything felt very primal - after all, the references were 20,000 years old. Something about the stone-age feels like a lot of fun or perhaps it’s just that men get to show off their muscles. That primal thing was added to by the use of bright colours, the super simple cuts, particularly the wrap dress and the jagged edges that gave everything a Flinstones vibe.

Vivienne Westwood describes Red Label as a remix of all her old stuff – it’s the greatest hits package everyone wants. It took a million years to get entry to the show, but trust me, being an ethnic always helps. Westwood is currently winning the LFW ethnic model count – a third of the models walking for her are black. Read more »

Anyone who has ever seen any work by a trend prediction agency will know that industry is a bit voodoo. They cover every base, just like astrologers do; read any star sign and they all work. It’s the same with trend prediction. There are always variations on the following trends: a techno trend, a sporty trend, a craft trend and an eco trend. Thinking this could be a gross misrepresentation, we checked with some trend-predicting folk we knew and they totally backed this argument. What’s really annoying is that fashion designers, fashion editors, and probably your best crop top-wearing fashion mate and the best photo blogs, can all predict what will be on sale in New Look next year with some accuracy. But big companies stick with the trend predictors, finding safety in corporate speak. So I hooked up with clairvoyant and psychic John Starkey thinking maybe he’d be just as right about the future of fashion. Starkey, who admits he knows nothing about fashion, says he received his insight into style clairvoyantly through a man called Raymonde. Read more »

French people are so cute when they’re being moody and soulful and defying death. Here’s a fashion shoot that’s all about that.

There’s no denying that we have what one might call very strong opinions as to what we like and dislike about everything around here. We don’t care about nonsense fashion trends and that’s probably why we attract a lot of weirdos who try too hard to “think outside of the box.” I don’t know if every magazine gets the same ridiculous emails, but I’m always receiving packages full of retarded stuff from PR reps who think they’ve perfectly nailed the “Vice image.” Read more »

Being a fashion week virgin, I was really excited about seeing The Central Saint Martin’s MA fashion show. I felt like I could relate to it, you know? Like me and the designers had something in common. It was the first time for both of us, so we were going to take it slow - not go too fast. You know, make love.

Kling by Kling, as a Fashion Forward brand, tried very hard to ‘turn the fashion world on its head’, whatever the fuck that’s supposed to mean.

Being a girl can be shit, especially when our body decides to punish us for not being a dumb skank by haemorrhaging every month. During this special time we end up eating painkillers all day like a cry-for-help self-medicator. What else? Sex is cancelled (it’s not like we expect anyone to go down on us), family members get pissed about un-flushed blood-tissues (yeah, because what you put in the toilet’s fucking gorgeous) and every time we hand a box of tampons over to the 16-year-old at Sainsbury’s acts like there’s sexual energy passing between us, (yes I have a vagina, yes you have a dick, no it’s not going to happen, I’m buying a vaginal doorstop, not chocolate body paint). The only good to come out of the whole mess, other than an unfertilized egg, is being able to wear period knickers.
