I’m in America touring with PRE right now. We played at SXSW and we are now on the west coast. It’s been great fun. But today I’m pissed off and I’ve got some things to say something about band T-shirts.
Akiko’s style tips part 3 - Learn from Bruce Lee
This time I want to talk about black vs colour by invoking the philosophies and teachings of Bruce Lee and showing how they apply in my own life. We all know that wearing all black can’t go wrong. It will make you look cool, thin and rock’n'roll. For example, Robbie the singer from The Big Pink always wears exactly the same clothes. Black hoodie, black leather jacket, black jeans and black boots. It’s great, because it suits him and it’s such an established look by now that everybody’s stopped saying: “You haven’t changed your clothes have you? You are clearly wearing the same clothes as yesterday and the day before and the day before that… have you ever washed?”
Akiko’s style tips 2: Onstage Fashion

Big rock stars often have their own stylists and designers to make them costumes for big shows or music videos. Johnny Blue Eyes did Gossip and CSS, Christian Joy did Karen O and Klaxons. Nova Dando did Lightspeed Champion, La Roux and loads of upcoming bands. Someday I want these people to make me some costumes. I can’t afford them yet though. But, what I’m here to say is that if you are in a broke band, you can still look as fucked up and stylish as those rock stars. Here are some examples of DIY stage outfits that I’ve got involved in recently.
