I keep harping on about how I love seeing someone who studies or works in one creative discipline exchange it for another. It usually, on some level, reflects the outcome. Emilio de la Morena made the successful transition from sculptor to fashion designer.

Makin Jan Ma isn’t quite as simple to explain. I suppose he’s technically a filmmaker who creates clothes for his characters. Shift explain it better than me:
“He writes stories and scripts and makes clothes for the characters, and then makes film for the stories with characters wearing clothes he designed. Film, photography, fashion, illustration, poetic words and etc. He is an artist who makes conceptual, yet playful use of a diverse range of mediums for his works. His name is Makin Jan Ma, whom you might have heard that he is one of the members of Janfamily, who has released a book titled ‘Plans For Other Days’ in 2005. Using such different mediums for his creation he makes things to express ideas overflowing inside him. He will take you on a journey to look closely into the fount of his creation.”
Got it? Good. So let’s simplify it for us air-headed fashionphiles. He makes nice clothes. You might like them.

Oooh, thanks for posting about him! I checked him out on his website and I really like it. In fact, I like it so much that I want to post about it on my blog. How did you get the pictures and do you have a PC? (I have a Mac . . . maybe that’s why I can’t get the pics . . . ) Thanks! :-)
