PHOTOS FROM A VAGABOND

When Norwegian photographer, curator, and zine publisher Christian Belgaux isn’t curating photo exhibitions and publishing eye-massaging photo-zines, he spends his time traveling to random, far out places in Asia. Before leaving for his current trip to Xinjiang in Western China, he sent us some pictures that will be published this fall in a zine called In the Meanwild. Christian believes that the crazy guy with the jaw-droppingly amazing beard in that picture up there is some kind of magician or mystical creature. On his way back to the hotel after a night of heavy drinking with the locals in Jaipur, some guys in the street started yelling at him and threatening to call the police for reasons that still aren’t totally clear. Suddenly, this man with the splendid red beard popped up out of nowhere, smiled, said something in Hindu and vanished like an apparition. After that, the angry locals let Christian drive the auto rickshaw around town to scout for ladies. Holy cow!
