BRANDON FONVILLE’S PHOTO BARF
03.06.2010
Brandon Fonville is a photo-shooting guy from North Carolina who’s now living in Brooklyn. He’s got a weird knack for making nauseatingly decayed landscape look pretty in a sort of post-apocolyptic-we’re-all-at-peace-now kind of way. He also likes to take photos of cats, birds, rednecks, and the Amish.
When I asked Brandon to say a few words about his photography, he mumbled something about camera-wandering, the beauty of expired and shitty film, and renting fancy, high-resolution scanners because, “Who the hell can afford them?” Or something like that.
Then he told me the best way to sum up photography is with a line from the film William Eggleston in the Real World: “About photographs…it’s just about impossible to follow up with words. They don’t have anything to do with each other.”
