The 9th Annual AdiCup

Last Saturday our football (soccer) team showed up at the 9th annual Adidas AdiCup with 27 other local NYC teams with varying degrees of hand/eye coordination for a shot at competing in the finals at Adidas’ headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany.
We won one game against some downtown motion-graphics studio (of course). Then, the complimentary Heineken and BBQ was laid out. After a quick carbo loading session game two commenced. This one was against La Esquina, a recently defunct Mexican restaurant and their rowdy crew of soccer-bred employees.
I’m not sure if you could classify the game against La Esquina as a competition. We showed up for the gun fight with foam-covered nunchucks.
The third game, against FCS, was closer. We scored early but once again ended up falling into a double digit deficit and couldn’t come back. Whatever, at least there was free food and beer. Plus, we beat those nerds from the motion-graphics studio.
