Tonight at Webster hall I will be speaking at the 3rd annual Ayahuasca Monologues. As you may or may not know I have tried an impressively large variety of psychedelics and I still hold ayahuasca at the top of the list. Nothing will get you quite as bugged-out, full-on ranting, speaking in tongues, having conversations with your hand, running through the streets, alternately crying tears of joy and transdimensional ectoplasm. Famous psychonauts Alex Grey and Daniel Pinchbeck will be speaking as well. (I’m speaking with Alex Grey, what is the world coming to!)
Ayahuasca is also something im very opinionated about, after spending time with it in the Amazon, Haiti, and even New York. I have come to thoroughly distrust and dislike most self proclaimed “shamans.” Also, I have never been one to embrace a drug for the simple fact that it’s “natural.” This already sets me apart from most ayahuasca aficionados, but to make things worse I usually don’t even use plants, preferring instead to work exclusively with synthetic DMT and MAOIs which mimic the effects of ayahusca but can be taken in a tasteless pill form. Hey, it’s the year 2009, why be a pharmacological luddite?
I was asked to speak because Daniel Pinchbeck thought it was somehow improper for me to take Ritalin with ayahuasca as I did in The Sapo Diaries. I argued that using Ritalin with ayahusca is perfectly fine and people should take it however they wish–I mean seriously, I was tired. Next thing I know I’m giving this talk, so if you want to learn about my special techniques for brewing ayahuasca as well as the minutiae of my most recent pharmahuasca death trip, come check it out. Show starts at 7:30.

someone record this please.
If it makes you feel like you’re swimming in cotton candy then where the fuck do I sign up?
ive never heard anyone compare dmt to swimming in cotton candy - but then again desire and expectation play such a huge role in it that sure! its just like swimming in fuckin cotton candy.
dmt isnt like ayahuasca. similar properties, but very different. ayahuasca is pretty interesting as far as psychedelics go, but DMT is by far at the top because its what gets secreted by your brain when you dream/die (haha its the stuff dreams are made of). i’ve snorted 2CC several times and that comes a close second- but because it hurts like a bitch you have to take the “leap of faith” to truly be rewarded
that shit seems terrifying, no thanks.
Couldn’t have said it much better myself, DMT. It’s disappointing to me that ayahuasca/DMT gets caught up in woo (Rick Strassman believes the planets will be aligned in 2012, etc.). It is a drug, and just because it’s ‘natural’ isn’t a good argument for it’s use. HOWEVER, taking it with ritalin was stupid, what were you thinking? If you’re tired you wait until tomorrow. Ayahuasca is insanely powerful, treat it with some respect.
Taking ayahuasca with ritalin IS slightly dangerous in a strictly pharmacological sense, as combing any dopaminergic stimulant with a MAOI can lead to a hypertensive crisis, that said, its something occasionally prescribed by medical professionals and CAN be done safely if one is careful with their dose, which he was. if ritalin helps you combat the sedative effects of the vine then good, do what allows you to maximize enjoyment of your experience. ayahuasca is not a person, its a drink which allows you to think about the world in new ways - there is no way to disrespect an inanimate drink.
Man, someone better tape this.
Hamilton…. take with some Ketamine and go cruising down the K Hole. That should be one dark ass experience.
You exemplified the “black spider” described by speaker after you and I would have loved it if you had taken the not so subtle cue and shut up and left the stage when the mic went dead.
