We at VICE like our music tough. We were bummed when Dead Moon called it quits a few years back, but Fred and Toody simply found a new drummer and started Pierced Arrows, a band, they say, that makes “MUSIC TOO TOUGH TO DIE.” In fact, we’re so psyched on Pierced Arrows that we went ahead and signed the band. To celebrate this announcement, we’re allowing you exclusive listening rights to “Paranoia,” a track off their forthcoming badassly titled Descending Shadows, which we will release in February. (That’s the cover art up there.) I agree with Drew. Dead Moon was the first punk band I saw when I was young, and they shaped the way I thought of punk. They were friendly, real and didn’t give a fuck about silly trendy bullshit. They represent everything Vice doesn’t. Why Pierced Arrows would release through the label of some trite hipster rag is beyond me.
I like this pairing a lot. I think Pierced Arrows, and Fred, Toody and Kelly are awesome folks, great musicians and super inspirational. I also am a Vice fan, and think that the “trendy” argument is reductive bullshit. Vice is a complicated deal, with lots of writers, good video content, pretty solid taste in the music dept. I think bands like Pierced Arrows reaching more people via Vice’s channels is exciting as hell.

watch ‘unknown passage’ and learn that dead moon are so much more than just a band. i hope that vice knows how to appreciate this, cause they are just amazing! go and see them and know what live music is about. in general!
