HEY FASHION GUY! ANSWER OUR QUESTIONS WITH PICTURES

picture-11

London-based Lebanese guy Ziad Ghanem’s clothes are for the sort of people who love fashion for its “sculptural rhythms” or whatever, not to look cool or rich or piss off their gran or the government, purely because they like having as extreme an aesthetic as possible. We’re talking weird shapes that possibly push into the fourth dimension, all kinds of prints all the time, slogans, loads of color, and collections called Masturbazar. Fashion doesn’t have to be all political, and anyway a lot of people who like fashion are borderline illiterate, so rather than force Ziad to struggle to answer some boring questions, we figured it’d be a nice idea to have him answer in pictures.

Vice: How did growing up in war-torn Lebanon affect your view of fashion?

question-1

Ziad's Gran

Your seven-piece denim capsule collection is a massive departure from Firetrap’s usual thing. What were you trying to bring to to the Firetrap customer?

question-2

One of Ziad's collaborative pieces for Firetrap

Kindly illustrate the intensely vivid-ass appeal of a Ziad Ghanem design.

question-3

Ziad's Vogue dress

Now please show me something that typifies your label.

question-4

Why were there so many transvestites at your show?

question-5

One of the themes of The Immortalist collection was the American dream realized in Britain. Please explain.
