I would read natural Capitalism since it finds solutions for the problems of keeping with current demands while reducing the impact on our natural resources by rethinking our production methods. Also, most 3rd world countries have internet now. They know that all Americans have TVs, refrigerators, microwave ovens, etc. They want those luxuries too. Many people in third world countries are now learning about online businesses and as they prosper over globalization, they will begin to buy these items. Which in turn means HIGHER energy consumption. This movements No. 1 priority has been energy because if we reduce energy use or use the less emitting styles, then we can move the graph of warming dramatically to a level where we have more time to change other wasteful process. The movement, mostly in higher education sectors, is not wanting to turn everyone into cavemen. We simply want to start a new industrial revolution. One that is smarter and more efficient. Once the more richer countries do this, then other countries will notice the improvement of life and do the same. Once there is smaller demand on exotic woods, a better cycle supply from those rain forest will occur and local harvesters will change their businesses to supply the newer demand which might be restored woods or a style of dense grass, similar to bamboo. I hate hearing peoples comments that are so one sided. There is no narrow answer, there is no "Capitalism, YES!" The world is complicated in its design, so we must become more complicated in our design. We must find the connections between things. When we start doing that we will get closer to a perfect capitalism. One that has very very very small resources and high profit margins. | | |
